"Sujata Mohapatra’ s ‘Varsha’ again choreographed by Ratikant,
marked the highpoint of the show, the ecstasy of her Odissi in a class
of its own, capturing the images of nature during the monsoons with
the peacock, the snake, the deer, the elephant, the cuckoo and with
leaf-laden creepers leaning their weight on trees. But what brings
bloom can also spell gloom in a tsunami-type disaster, depicted with
contained intensity by Sujata.

"Sujata Mohapatra gave an outstanding Odissi performance at the Music Academy"
- Chennai Chronicle, January 2009
"It was Sujata who stole the limelight that evening. Perfectly tuned
to the lyrical nad rhythmic music and movements, Sujata showed that
her body language coupled with the sculpture's poses and an intricate
footwork were meant for effectively communication Kelucharan's poetic
dance vocabulary. In her abhinaya number...Sujata demonstrated her
ability to transform herself quietly from one bhava to another within
a second.
- The Hindu,March 2007
"Sujata seemed made for the composition. Her dance in trance was
magical and mesmerising. The way she transforms into a mood or a
character and then takes a smooth transition into the other is the
hallmark of this star dancer. And eloquent Sujata executed it with
ease"
- The Hindu, January 2007
"Sujata, one of the best Odissi dancers of the present generation,
fascinated the audience with sheer energy and grace on the first day
of 'Nritya Sangam', a dance festival organized by Sangeet Natak
Academy, New Delhi, in association with South Central Zone Cultural
Center...Her mastery of emotion, her control of movement and her
potrayal of the leela of Shrikrishna as darling of the whole Gokul
made Sujata the audience's darling"
- The Hitavda, Nagpur, September 2006
"Sujata's footwork is excellent, hastaks rhythmic and face full of
devotion and varied expressions. Though of intellectual leanings, she
is able to delve tenderly into the river of relationships. Feelings
and emotions are rationalised as they pass through the filter of her
constant dance practice and life experience"
- The Hindu, July 2006
"Day three of the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival had some of the best
moments so far...Sujata Mohapatra's abhinaya stood out."
- Maharashtra Herald, Dec 2005
"At the Stein auditorium under Habitat's HCL Concert Series, was
Sujata Mohapatra's Odissi recital, epitomising in every detail the
dance as visualised by her father-in-law/guru, the late Kelucharan
Mohapatra. With talents honed for 18 years under the guru, the
immaculate dance contours of Sujata's Odissi, particularly the
measured perfection and grace of the torso isolations, the hallmark of
the guru's style, are well known. But it is in the intense nature of
her interpretative dance that one sees Sujata's growth in the last
three to four years....As for Ardhanariswara, after Sanjukta Panigrahi
for whom the item was composed in 1977 with music by Raghunath
Panigrahi, rarely has this critic seen the complementing Siva/Parvati
contrasts captured with such grace and power."
